SURGEONS: AT THE EDGE OF LIFE (ASSEMBLY EDITOR - EPISODE 2: Pushing the boundaries)

Maxillofacial surgeon Tim Martin operates on ex-policewomen Loretta, who has a disease so rare, he is thought to be the first in the UK to attempt the procedure. In a marathon procedure, Tim will remove a large part of Loretta’s diseased jaw, followed by complex facial reconstruction using a section of her pelvis.

Neurosurgeon Alex Paluzzi is also taking on one of the toughest cases of his career. His patient Norah is a grandmother with a rare and aggressive tumour which has wrapped itself around her brainstem – putting her life in imminent danger.
